Schoology - How to Remove Categories Attached to Numerous Assignments

Issue:

A teacher trying to set up Grade Passback in Schoology can't delete old categories because they already have different categories attached to numerous assignments

Solution:

The teacher needs to remove the old category from every assignment it is attached to. Clicking on the name of the assignment in the error message will take them directly to the assignment in question to remove and/or change the category.

However, what if the teacher has been using those old categories frequently and has it attached to 50+ assignments?  The answer is to use Bulk Edit.

To use Bulk Edit

1. Click Gradebook

2. Click the three dots in the top right 

3. Select Bulk Edit

Once you do, it will open up the Bulk Edit screen:

From here, you will see every assignment in that course. You can quickly change the category (as well as names, due dates, etc.) from the screen. Find any category listed that isn't Daily or Major and use the drop-down arrow to select the correct category.

Once all the other categories are removed, the teacher will be able to continue configuring Grade Passback.
