This guide details how to enable Nearpod’s Autofill Student Names tool. By leveraging Single Sign-On (SSO) through Google, this feature automatically populates a student’s official name, ensuring accuracy and accountability from the moment they join your lesson.

Steps to enable Autofill student names

1. Go to Lesson Settings

To enable this feature, go to Lesson Settings by clicking on the avatar in the upper right corner of your My Library page, then click on "Lesson Settings."

    2. Toggling on Autofill Student Names

Once you're on the Lesson Settings page, use the toggle to turn the "Autofill student names" feature on or off. Turning this feature on will require all students to validate their names before joining the lesson.

    3. Teaching with Google SSO (Single Sign On) turned on

When the feature is enabled, students will still join your Nearpod lesson the same way they have before.
When it's time to enter their name, students will see the screen below. They will select Google to validate their name.

Students will verify their name after entering their credentials. As the teacher, you will see the first and last names that are associated with their Google account.
